SLIDER: 1911 Ford Trafford Park Advertisement

Just after we discovered the 1923 image of the Ford Motor Company’s assembly line at Trafford Park in Manchester – the one we show in Snapshot 156 – we found this advertisement for the products of that same factory.  It dates from 4th November 1911 – just after the British factory opened.  Since all four prices are quoted F.O.B. Manchester Works, we can only assume that all four models shown here were manufactured at the Manchester factory.  It also seems very likely that this prestigious fold-out publicity, found in a British weekly motoring magazine, was deliberately timed to coincide with the start of Manchester-based production.  The advertisement appears to have been successful; as we detailed in our article for Snapshot 156, Ford production at this factory climbed to 6,000 cars before world war intervened.  We have no figures for the share taken by each of the four models shown here, but they certainly make an impressive quartet.
