SLIDER: 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster

The Chevrolet Fleetmaster was part of the Chevrolet line-up produced with basically the same body design from 1941 to 1947, with a break in production during World War II.  Originally known as the Special Deluxe, it was renamed as Fleetmaster from 1946 through to 1948.

The 1947 Fleetmaster shown here has the more modern grille with fewer, thicker chrome grille bars introduced for that year.  The Fleetmaster took up the middle of the range, between the basic Stylemaster and the Fleetmaster Fleetline (why not just the Fleetline?).  the Fleetline sub-series was the only one to feature three additional chrome fender mouldings.

This example was seen parked in the harbour area of Akureyri, the second city of Iceland (with a population of only 17,900 souls), in 2014.  Just like the city, the car could be said to be simple, unpretentious but attractive.
